Fotoworkshop: The Box Camera Revolution
Bli med på en særegen, utfordrende og merkelig fotoworkshop i bokskameraets visuelle verden! Vi tilbyr en workshop hvor vi går tilbake i fotohistoriens folkelige røtter – nærmere bestemt til bokskameraets tidsalder. Bokskameraene var forløperne til 70-tallets Instamatic og vår tids Instagram. Fra den tiden fotografiet ble tilgjengelig for alle gjennom enkle og rimelige bokskameraer som ble brukt til å dokumentere hverdag og fest.
Bokskameraene skapte en revolusjon ved å gjøre det mulig for alle å delta i fotografiet og skape avtrykk av sine omgivelser og sin samtid.
Box Camera Workshop
Denne workshopen byr deltakerne på en rekke store og små utfordringer gjennom oppgaver som skal løses gjennom en hel helg. Ved slutten av workshopen lager deltakerne albumsider med print av bildene – slik folk gjorde før mobiltelefonene og digitalkameraene inntok fotografiet. Bokskameraene er sjarmerende skapninger med få eller ingen innstillinger, simpel optikk som gir et særegent uttrykk i bildene. Bildene blir som regel sylskarpe i midten og tildels tåkete ut mot hjørnene. Dermed ledes blikket inn mot de sentrale områdene. Siden man ikke kan gjøre noen innstillinger på kameraet, blir motivet og bildet det viktige.

Deltakerne på workshopen får låne hver sitt bokskamera fra 1940/1950-årene og fotografere med gammel og gjerne utdatert fargefilm eller sorthvittfilm. Join us for a unique , challenging and weird photo workshop in the visual worlds of box cameras ! We offer a workshop where we go back into the grassroots of the democratic photography – namely the box camera era. Box cameras were the forerunners of the 70s Instamatic and contemporary Instagram . From the time the photograph was available to everyone through simple and inexpensive box camera that was used to document the everyday and special occasions . Box cameras created a revolution by making it possible for everyone to participate in the photo and create impressions of his surroundings and his contemporaries . By means of simple photographic devices our ancestors invented their lives like contemporary people do with their smartphones and Instagram. This workshop offers participants a variety of large and small challenges through puzzles to be solved through an entire weekend. At the end of the workshop participants make album pages with prints of the images – so people did before cell phones and digital cameras took the photo. Box cameras are charming creatures with few or no settings , simple optics that provide a distinctive expression in the pictures. Images are generally sharp in the middle and partly clouded toward the corners . Thus directed his gaze towards the central areas. Since one can not make any settings on the camera, the subject and the image is important . Each participant will lend a box camera from 1940´s and shoot with old and often outdated color film or black and white film.
